Eleganter Alpaka Schal für Damen und Herren von Alpakin in dunkelblau Fransen

The scarf is so beautiful, just as pictured, really soft and cozy. I am also impressed by the very quick delivery and how lovingly you packaged everything. It warms my heart if I can support traditional crafts in Peru with my purchase.

Ute Buntrock-Grabosch
From Penzberg

I don't really like wearing scarves, so it was important to me that the wool was very soft. My men's scarf made of pure baby alpaca wool doesn't scratch at all and is extremely warm. I like the subtle colors, the scarf goes with any jacket and hardly absorbs any odors.

Frequently asked questions about alpaca scarves

Do scarves made of alpaca wool scratch?

Not all alpaca wool is the same, as there are five different quality levels that vary in softness. Since scarves come into direct contact with the skin, we always recommend choosing the softest baby alpaca quality. Baby alpaca wool is obtained from protected body parts of adult alpacas and is as soft as cashmere. In the lower qualities of alpaca, fine and superfine, alpaca wool can be scratchy.

Are alpaca scarves warm?

Alpaca wool is the warmest wool in the world, which is why thick alpaca scarves keep you warm in winter. You can also wear thin alpaca scarves in the transitional months, as alpaca wool regulates the temperature so that you don't sweat in warmer temperatures.

How do you recognize a good alpaca scarf?

A high-quality alpaca scarf can be recognized by its high percentage of alpaca wool. Scarves that only contain 10-50% alpaca wool are less soft and warm, and in blends the wool cannot fully develop its special properties. We therefore recommend that you go for 100 percent alpaca scarves.

Are alpaca scarves suitable for people who are allergic to wool?

Yes, because alpaca wool is hypoallergenic and, unlike other types of wool, contains hardly any lanolin (wool fat). Allergy sufferers and people with sensitive skin should only use baby alpaca wool, as normal alpaca wool is often scratchy.

Are alpaca scarves difficult to care for?

Alpaca scarves are durable, functional and easy in care. Alpaca wool does not pill and can be washed in the wool program of the washing machine. It dries quickly and does not wrinkle.

Is an alpaca or cashmere scarf better?

Until recently, cashmere was a noble luxury fiber. However, it has now found its way into the cheap fast fashion segment, with negative effects on the environment and animal welfare. Unfortunately, the disadvantages of cashmere have now become so diverse that more and more people are choosing alpaca instead of cashmere.

Alpaca scarves … pure warmth and elegance

A scarf made of alpaca wool offers the highest level of comfort and convenience thanks to its softness and warmth. They are the perfect accessories for women and men who like elegance and practicality at the same time. Since scarves come into direct contact with the sensitive skin of the neck, we recommend the highest quality baby alpaca, as it is the finest and softest alpaca fiber. You will feel so safe in your baby alpaca scarf that you will never want to take it off. Like a second skin.

Baby alpaca scarves are breathable and are even suitable for people who are allergic to wool. Alpaca wool as a natural fiber is particularly gentle on the skin and is often left in the natural colors of the alpacas, without any chemical dyes. While thick alpaca wool scarves keep you warm in the cold season, thinner alpaca scarves are also suitable in the transitional months, as alpaca wool has a temperature-regulating effect. Where alpacas live, in the Andes mountains of Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina, they are exposed to large temperature fluctuations. Their fur protects alpacas from the cold and intense sunlight alike.

Scarves made of alpaca wool promise maximum comfort

Alpaca wool has properties that even fine fibers such as merino or cashmere do not offer. Alpaca wool is a noble luxury fiber for people who love something special.

Softness

Alpaca scarves made from the highest quality baby alpaca wool are as soft as cashmere. Alpaca wool does not scratch in this quality level, your soft scarf is incredibly cuddly and comfortable. We do not recommend wearing lower qualities such as alpaca or alpaca fine directly on the skin, as they can be quite scratchy.

Heat & thermal properties

With your alpaca scarf you will never be cold again. Alpaca wool is seven times warmer than sheep's wool and is still the warmest wool in the world. Alpaca wool has hollow fibers that regulate heat, so you neither freeze nor sweat in thin alpaca scarves, for unique comfort.

Breathable & functional

In addition to being comfortable and feeling luxurious on the skin, alpaca scarves are also functional. Your scarf made of alpaca wool will keep you warm, store your body heat and is also breathable. Moisture often builds up in the neck area, alpaca fibers wick away body moisture and thus prevent odors.

For wool allergy sufferers

The fluffy wool of the alpaca camels contains hardly any lanolin (wool fat), which is a common trigger for allergic reactions such as skin irritation. Alpaca allergies are extremely rare in baby alpaca quality, which is why it is a popular choice for people who are allergic to wool and suffer from neurodermatitis. Another advantage for the skin is that alpaca scarves, as clothing made from natural fibers, often contain fewer or no chemicals. Alpacas come in a variety of colors such as black, brown and white, which makes the dyeing process unnecessary. Instead, you wear the natural color of the South American camels, which is guaranteed never to fade.

Silky shine

A special property that merino and cashmere do not offer is the natural, silky sheen of alpaca wool, which makes your alpaca scarf shine. It gets even more elegant with a mixture of alpaca silk wool, which we offer as stoles in our limited collection.

Lightweight

Alpaca fibers are thin, which is why alpaca scarves are pleasantly light on the shoulders and therefore more comfortable to wear. Thick winter scarves in particular are often bulky and heavy, but this is completely different with lightweight alpaca wool.

Easy-care

A luxury fiber that is both functional and easy to care for ... that's baby alpaca. It repels dirt, contains protein molecules that neutralize odors and therefore needs to be washed less often. Alpaca wool is strong and durable, making it ideal for scarves that are put on and taken off frequently. Unlike other types of wool, alpaca wool does not fluff, not tend to pill and dries quickly. You can wash your alpaca scarf or stole by hand or in the wool program of the washing machine.

Baby alpaca scarves from Alpakin

Our alpaca scarves are made of 100% softest baby alpaca wool, for a gentle feeling on the skin and the best wearing experience. We deliberately do not stock cheaper alpaca-wool blends with only around 10 - 50% alpaca in our range, as mixed scarves can be scratchy and the alpaca wool can no longer fully develop its special characteristics.

Since baby alpaca wool can only be obtained from protected body parts of adult alpacas, it is rarer and more expensive. In return, you are investing in high-quality and long-lasting slow fashion that not everyone has. We rely on alpaca wool without animal cruelty, which has been awarded the Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS). Since the highest quality alpaca wool can be found in Peru, we source our wool exclusively from this country and have our clothing manufactured by small manufacturers there.

At Alpakin you will find alpaca scarves for women and men for spring and summer, as well as winter. Our designs are simple and timelessly elegant. In addition to plain scarves in various colors and cuts, we also offer patterned scarves as well as stoles and scarves in the natural colors of alpacas, completely without chemicals. You can wear your alpaca scarf at work, in your free time and when traveling. Combine it as an accessory with a shirt, blouse or sweater or as a warm scarf with a thick winter jacket or an elegant coat or blazer. The warmth and softness of alpaca scarves guarantee your well-being. Their silky shine also makes them a special eye-catcher. Our cream stoles for the bride are popular at weddings, an accessory so soft and shiny that you have to feel it. If you want something particularly cozy, we also recommend the warmest socks made of alpaca wool, which promise you will never have cold feet again.

At the same time, alpaca wool is sustainable because alpacas protect the landscape and contribute to greening with their eating habits. They get by with little food and water per day and produce a comparatively large amount of wool. Alpacas give up to six kilograms per alpaca shearing, of which only about 150 - 200 grams are baby alpaca quality. In comparison, sheep produce 4 - 5 kilograms of wool and cashmere goats only produce about 300 grams of wool from their undercoat.

Alpaca scarves from Peru

Alpaca scarves from Peru stand for tradition and the highest quality wool. Almost 80% of the world's alpaca population lives in Peru, the land of alpacas. Peru has a long tradition of producing alpaca clothing. The knowledge and passion with which the Peruvians breed alpacas and process their wool into high-quality clothing has impressed us from the very first moment. We hope that alpaca wool remains a rare, precious fiber in the premium segment and does not join the fast fashion movement for cheap, constantly changing fashion. For buyers, alpaca scarves from Peru mean softness, quality and comfort as well as a piece of South American joy of life.

Care tips: Washing an alpaca scarf

Alpaca scarves are easy to care for and do not need to be washed too often due to the high self-cleaning power of the alpaca fiber. Odors are neutralized by airing out in the fresh air and your alpaca scarf is fresh and ready to use again without using any water. You can wash alpaca scarves by hand or in the gentle wool program of the washing machine, at a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius and no more than 600 revolutions per minute. To protect your alpaca scarf, you should add wool detergent, avoid fabric softener and also use a laundry net to avoid pilling. Do not put the alpaca scarf in the dryer after washing so that the alpaca fibers do not mat. Instead, let it air dry lying down (not hanging!) and leave to dry in a well-ventilated room for long enough so that the alpaca wool does not start to smell.
